Intensity: category 3, sustained winds near the centre of 130 kilometres per hour with wind gusts to 185 kilometres per hour.
Location: within 55 kilometres of 16.5 degrees South, 115.6 degrees East , 490 kilometres north northwest of Karratha and 620 kilometres north northeast of Exmouth .
Movement: west southwest at 29 kilometres per hour. Severe Tropical Cyclone Claudia continues to move over open waters to the north of the Pilbara. Claudia is expected to continue to track towards the west southwest and by Tuesday it is likely to have begun weakening. Severe Tropical Cyclone Claudia is expected to continue to track towards the west southwest and remain over open waters, well north of the Pilbara.
Hazards:
GALES and HEAVY RAINFALL are not expected over mainland Western Australia.
