Tropical Cyclone Paul developed from a tropical low in the Coral Sea on April 11 2024. Paul developed to a category 2 Tropical Cyclone before degrading back to a tropical low system. There was no threat to the Australian mainland.
Tropical Cyclone Paul (13U) a category 2 system lies along a trough in the far northeast Coral Sea, and is moving towards the east southeast. TC Paul is expected to be a short-lived cyclone and weaken on Friday as environmental conditions deteriorate.
The system is likely to move northwest from Friday and dissipate on the weekend hence the likelihood of being a tropical cyclone reduces to Very Low during Saturday.

Location: within 45 kilometres of 14.5 degrees South, 155.9 degrees East , 670 kilometres east northeast of Willis Island and 1120 kilometres east northeast of Cairns .
Movement: east southeast at 12 kilometres per hour .
Tropical Cyclone Paul (13U), a category 2 system, is moving to the east southeast in the far northeast Coral Sea. Paul is expected to begin weakening on Friday as environmental conditions deteriorate. It will then move to the northwest and dissipate on the weekend. It will not impact the Queensland coast.
